No I don't. I think that using technology in the classroom is a dynamic way to stay updated with everything that is happening in the world. I think that it is also a very interactive way for kids to learn and to show what they know. However, with this social media revolution, I think it is also important to not forget that kids have the most unique and creative computers in the entire world: their minds! Computers were and are created by human minds. No matter how much a computer can computer, it can never compete with the creative capabilities of the human mind! While teachers need to stay updated on technological front, it is also important to continue to fost good old fashioned creativity!
No I do not think the use of technology detracts from time available for better modes of teaching because technology is such a major focus in today's society. Children need to know how to use different kinds of technologies to succeed in their future. By using different forms of technologies in the classroom it keeps you as the teacher up to date with what the students know. If you can connect with them then they will be more likely to connect with you, and you will become a more successful teacher because of it.
